If you have visited a blog or forum recently you may have noticed that some allow you to post an image next to your comments. These little images are called avatars and they’re great because they add a personal touch, help make the conversation a little more interesting, and also help people easily identify your posts. However, it can be a pain to set up an avatar for every blog or forum you visit. So why not setup a Gravatar, or a globally recognized avatar, which follows you from blog to blog and automatically shows up with your comments when you enter your email on avatar enabled site (like ours).
The good news is that the most recent version of WordPress and many other blogs have built-in support for Gravatars. If yours doesn’t there is likely a plug-in available so you can enable Gravatars on your blog. If you don’t run a blog and you simply want to set up your own personal Gravatar, no problem – you can sign up for a free Gravatar account. If you’d like you can even specify various Gravatars for different email address, perhaps one for personal use and one for your company.
So, go ahead and create your Gravatar. Then, leave a comment in our blog so we can check it out!
